If you've got a range nearby that has one, you owe it to yourself to give it an honest try.
I realize we're not close, but if you find yourself in Missouri, "I know a guy", and we can get one in your hands.
Yea..... It's "different", granted. It's very different. But after a few rounds, it felt more 'natural'. If that makes sense?

EDIT: I mean, think about it. You've hacked off several inches, just by rearranging the pieces. So it's shorter, therefor the weight is closer to your 'core'.
Less mass "hanging out there" and less length "sticking out there". To be honest, I've not sure why the military hasn't adopted to the idea, and developed their own bullpup.

More than that, I owe it to America.

Seriously though, I will make a point to shoot one this year, just heavily looking into the above options.

Have you fired one?

Not even once. I’ve seen them in a shop or two and every time I’ve picked it up the magazine location was funky. Not the tavor, I think the one I picked up was a Austrian gun.

Sounds like the Steyr Aug in 556.,/223

If i were to make a suggestion, it would be based on what you already have.
I heard the SVD is a great gun. An old friend of mine had his hand in the developing of the magpul masada and he sounds pretty convinced it's a solid design. I have a gun he designed and built and it's an incredible piece of engineering.

I have handled the Tavor TAR-21 before. It didn't seam all that bad to me but it wasn't impressive either. The AUG looks more funky but seams a higher quality weapon overall.

If i had $1500 to blow on a gun right now, i would either buy an m14 or save up a few hundred more and buy a Rifle Dynamics AK47.

I forgot why, but I think Rifle Dynamics has a long standing dispute with this site. For the life of me I forget what the specifics were.... some drama decades ago now!
