can I add a muzzle brake to a brand new completely factory 6.5 vepr? It has the staked thread protector. Can I remove this and screw a brake on and be good to go?

As long as it's legal in your state there shouldn't be a problem.

Have fun and let us know how they shoot. I am seriously considering buying one.

I learned when I got my VEPR .308 that if you sand the tread protector, you can see the pin which is curved contouring around the bottom of the barrel the punch it out without having to dremel the thing and risking grinding the treads. I'm also waiting for my 6.5 grendel VEPR. should be here next week.
