Good Afternoon,

New Member here and recently unboxed my Molot VEPR 7.62x54r 16.5 and cleaned it up. It has never been shot.

I had picked up a Spam can of non-corrosive rounds for it and I am due to go to the range with it for the first time here shortly (if I can find a range that is open during this COVID-19 lockdown). So I haven't been able to zero it yet nor make any scope adjustments at the range.

A friend asked if I could help home clear some nuisance medium sized predators from his land. I was thinking a lighter round, so the pelts will still be intact. if I go with a 150 grain, what is a recommended round?

My research found PPU 150 grain SP. Thoughts?

Welcome to the forum. I harvested several deer with the PPU SP. It gets the job done.

Try Sportsmans Guide. They have it in stock. If you open up a membership you can get a discount and free shipping too.

I realize that this rifle is likely only only good up to 300yds, but what rounds would you recommend for the best accuracy at that distance?

PPU Match, Hornady should do pretty well. I've never shot a a 54r at 300.A cheaper Combloc ammo solution would be Silver Tip.
