I searched around and couldn't find anything on this. I'm in the process of trying to make a thumbhole Vepr 12 922r compliant while trying to retain it's original look and wooden furniture as much as possible. I can find a bunch of other parts such as fire control groups, handguards, and even a gas puc, but I can't find anything on pistons or piston rods. Would regular RPK pistons and rods work or am I going to need something specific to this particular shotgun?

I would leave it alone. It is already is compliant for you unless you are a manufacturer. Enjoy that shotty!
