My VEPR ran good when I got it. It ejected very strong even though the action felt like it had sand it it.
I’ve done a lot of polishing... ive also done a lot of shooting at an indoor range which doesn’t allow bird shot. So I’ve been been buying cheap slugs for $4/10 box.
Today I think I figured out why the gun is ejecting 1/2 as hard despite a smoother action.
There was a bunch of lead buildup 1-3” forward of the chamber and I noticed a large lead chunk completely blocking 1 of the gas ports. I’ve been cleaning the gun regularly but needed a flashlight to see the lead chunk blocking the hole.

Sorry for the delay in approving your post.

Yea... I've noticed that some brands of ammo will leave melted plastic, carbon, and "trash" in the gas system, while some are pretty clean.
Glad you figured out the issue without much fuss.

Shouldn’t be lead. Should be powder residue and some melted plastic. Either way, be sure to ream the gas block clean with a stainless tornado brush or the like. Don’t use much lube at all as premature fouling occurs as a result. I prefer to run nearly entirely dry. ;)

Watch it Bob. I know you want to comment on my dry statement. This is a family show.
