My very first firearm, the Molot VEPR AK47, is now in ruin. Recently, after some target practice with my son at the local range, we were rear-ended by an F-250 Super Duty at a red light and everything behind the front seats was destroyed...four firearms in total along with optics, etc. It looks like the insurance claim against the guilty party will help with some cash, but I really want to know if the rifle can be repaired. It looks like the receiver took the brunt of the damage...bent. So, I'm just looking for advice on how to proceed. Is it a total loss or can something like this be repaired by a shop? For the insurance company, I took the video below:

Good advice welcome

Take it up with your insurance company and hope for the best. I'm glad you all are ok.The rifles probably can be repaired at high cost. Is it worth it though?

Contact troy sellars at inrange and see what he has to say. I had him redo a waffen werks that was built on a bad reciever, the unknown here is the RPK receiver and the availability of a replacement. Very happy with job he did on my '74. new receiver was about 60 bucks and takedown and reassembly was about 250 as I recall.

Try to salvage whatever you can from the Vepr.

Hopefully the front trunion and barrel can be salvaged. Dont toss the receiver either. It may be possiable to still salvage
