I am converting my two Veprs by installing CNCWarrior/Bonesteel Galil type folding stocks. The problem is the stock Vepr handguard. It is a beautiful piece and very good functionality. However, I’m not quite sure it goes aesthetically with this type of stock. Any advice on a replacement? I’m looking for something drop in and simple to replace.

Another option I’ve thought about is maybe putting in slits into
the original handguard, make it look Druganov-ish. I’m still not convinced this would be any better than the original however.

Or should I just leave it alone? Here’s what it looks like currently (stock photo). I guess I’m looking for Vepr fashion tips at this point. Thanks

It all comes down to personal preference. Some guys keep the OEM wood HG. You can convert it to traditional AK handguards with parts from Dinzag Arms. Carolina Shooters has slotted metal HGs. SGM Tactical has a polymer option and Manticore Arms has HGs. I think you can modify the Magpul Zubkoff HG to it as well..Take your time and research before you buy something.

Maybe after a few dirty skirmishes the wood will settle in aesthetically, but I'd swap the wood out. I don't care for the color black Magpul offers for AKs. Explore Commie Mike's suggestions is my suggestion.

As they say it depends on what look & function your going for. I'm running a SGM Tactical quad rail handgaurd on my 7.62x39 Vepr & love it.

The SGM ones do the job well especially if you want an evil looking black rifle with some tactical rails.
