I live in MD, and we are allowed to have the Veprs in the imported, sporter form. We aren't allowed by state law, to convert or alter the rifle. So mine still has the thumbhole stock, and all. I am working on something for mine, and was wondering how many of you guys still have them in the standard UNconverted form? Thanks

I bought one to convert, but I found a very nice converted Saiga to fill my AKM needs and since I liked the Vepr's original config so much, I've kept it as is. I haven't even put a bullet guide in it. The SGM 30round mags work great in it.

I've thought about still converting it, but now that they're banned, the unconverted / untouched config is even more appealing to me. ....a reminder of what used to be. heh!

I really enjoyed the rifle in sporting configuration too. The SGM mags were awesome.

I also have the sport version 7.62. I kept the thumb hole stock but did strip and refinish it darker. Installed bullet guide. I also replaced firing control with ALG trigger and spring. Installed a Fighter muzzle brake also and machined the safety lever to a bolt hold open type. Fortunately I live in a state where I could do all and have enjoyed the rifle a lot.
Veprs are great rifles!
Know this is somewhat converted but didn't go all tactical on it!

I have two. One I converted including adding the bullet guide to take standard AK magazines. The other looks exactly the way it came out of the box. I like the look of both.

I have left my Vepr Pioneer Unconverted.. I have no plans to convert it, as it is pretty excellent and I don't want that to change.
