I've got a NcStar MK III scope which I purchased a few months back for my 10-22. It arrived with a canted reticle, and I haven't gotten around to shipping it back for replacement. It aggravates the crap out of me that the company won't ship it on their dime since they allowed a defective product out the door. Anyways, I was sitting here looking at it, and thought that maybe somebody here might have heard of a way to fix it.

Any ideas or suggestions? Heck, I may just mount it on the x54R and see if the recoil straightens it out. :D

you'll have to send it back, on the cheaper scopes the reticule is glued in and sometimes that glue becomes dry and brittle and the reticule can move. you can't open the scope and fix it because then condensation will form inside

I'd either pay to have it shipped, buy a better scope, or try to fix it myself. Probably in that order.

If you try to fix it yourself, you could purge the air out with some gas duster (canned air) once you've straightened the reticle, and then try to quickly seal it up with some silicone RTV gasket compound. But then you've probably spent $10 and an hour or two that could otherwise be spent working for money to be put toward shipping or a better scope. And the reticle may not be perfectly straight when you're done anyway.

I'd spring for the shipping or buy something a little higher quality with a better reputation and warranty (like a Bushnell or a Redfield over an NC Star...no need to go all Nightforce on a 10-22).

I agree with this. I think Leupold makes a nice rimfire series that wont break the bank. I am planning to order the VX-1 2-7x28mm for my sons 22 savage.

And I think Redfield folded and was taken over by Leupold now. Consider it a Chevy to Leupold's Cadillac.

I mean the glass is already made in Asia... wonder if that means they will no longer be assembled in Oregon.

Thanks for the advise and the laughs! I'll probably send it back eventually, but that's the last cheap piece of glass I'll ever buy. Well, that cheap, anyway. :D
