Been a shooter most of my life. Member of AR15.com since January 2002. Same name as here.

I currently own and operate a tiny little gunstore on the premises of my family's business, which is heavy hauling and cranes. My shop is inside of a retrofitted 40' shipping container. Part display area and part shop area. I primarily make kydex holsters and gunsmith in my local area. I have my 07/02 as well. Working to get into Cerakoting and one day down the road to manufacturing.

Looking forward to learning more about Vepr's and hang out as well.

Good way to get around that commercial zoned address to get an FFL malarkey.

Well done and welcome.

Please be one of the gun smiths who doesn't just assume since he has refined a couple AKs that he knows what it takes to make an AK based shotgun run well. There are known methods to get good results, and known gas port configurations, bolt profiles that work well. It's a shame to see how many shops that mostly bolt on parts tell people they "built" a vepr or saiga without addressing these features. Worse are the smiths who take them on and try to make it up as they go, often with wrong port configurations.

You can learn this and you can put some awesome guns together, but please don't be this guy:

https://youtu.be/JsPuCt7GZG4?t=2m30s

Notice how he makes excuses for a gun that won't run unless you hold it just so? Unacceptable. Also how he barely knows how to fit a mag, and just looks awkwardly unfamiliar with the whole thing. Fine for an individual gun owner new to the gun, but for a guy who holds himself out as a specialist?????? Shameful.

Can read around here for a couple days and have far more real expertise than a number of shops out there.

Welcome.

I've not messed with AKs too much so I am by no means a specialist. I have Evlblkwpnz thread bookmarked and saved about his non lathe barrel cut and re thread. All of my knowings are just having been around guns for a long time and self teaching myself with patience and lots of research. If I don't feel comfortable with something I will tell the customer and we can go from there.

Not a whole lot of AK owners around me. Mostly guys with bolt actions and shotguns needing a tune up. Cheap ARs are finally getting more popular and that is fun to build.

Interesting. I would have expected MS would have about the same firearms trends as elsewhere.

I'm with you in enjoying the cheap proliferation of good AR parts. I'm getting parts together for a summer build or two myself.
Sadly AKs are getting costlier and less worth building all the time.

What kind of guns do you make? -- other than your incipient mag fed shotgun obsession. (Trust me, you'll have one.)

I sadly don't make anything right now. I guess you could say I "manufactured" my shops 10.5" AR, SBR'd Scorpion Evo and a chopped down Turkish made over under into a SBS.

I do have a mini mill and an 80% AR lower I will eventually get around to making into a machine gun.

I went ahead with the 07/02 just to have for when I do eventually get around to manufacturing my own stuff.

We do follow firearm trends here in MS, just on a smaller scale. With the cheap ARs about, you see less and less AKs though, and even less mag fed shotguns. I'm waiting on a new credit card to come in so I can order a Vepr 12 for my shop. Damn thieves stealing debit and credit card info :x

That's awesome, I'd like to see it in a cowboy style holster
