My name is Mach O Melvin, and I am ADDICTED to guns!
Ok, I said it out loud, but NOT too loud. Don't want my wife to hear me?
I have marveled & wondered from afar @ the VEPR-54R, BUT, today is the day I'm going out to buy one, before common sense or my wife stops me!!!
I'm leaning toward the 20" barrel over the 23". Does anybody have an opinion?
Thanks for the add!!!

Welcome!
Do we abbreviate your name to "MOM" for short?

Yes there is, and I may be the biggest addict on there. I am trying spread out & pick up a few more pieces.
I sure hope I don't come down with the "VEPR" addiction. That could really hurt my pocket book?
I ordered my VEPR today & will pick it up on Wednesday.

It's too late for you now. You might as well relegate yourself to your fate... ;)

Welcome!

And to your original question, there is not much difference performance-wise from the 20" or the 23." The 23" may help you better in getting out to really long distances due to increased MV, but essentially, they both do about the same in the shorter and mid distances. So it's really all about your personal preferences, what you're going to shoot at, and if you want to haul a longer or shorter barrel around. You're good either way.

And if you truly are a gun junkie... you'll probably get one of each... a 16", 20", 23", and 27"!!

Welcome!! The 16 and 20 are more tactical. The ones I owned were extremely accurate. Wear some good ear protection.
