My only issue is the scope mounting issues, Posp scopes are too high and I don't like railed optic mounts on the side rail, so I'm waiting for a company like RS to produce a quality mount with the correct height for the hunter/pioneer.

Wouldn't one of these work and be centered and fairly low?

This isn't my Hunter. It's a Super, but the rear of the receiver looks the same.

That is designed for the Super which has the newer style sliding/flip rear sight instead of the old RPK style sight mine has.

Still working on removing the vertical spacer from my Hunter's side mount :)

I've removed the end screws; it looks like there is a central pin/screw with a hex head holding the spacer. Do I need a very thin wrench or there's a trick to remove that pin?

Thought I'll ask here to bump the Hunters' thread.

Cheers,
Oasiz37

I have a hunter in .308 and it's my favorite rifle hands down! Stock is awesome and I totally believe its a solid 2 MOA shooter (I have a post that shows just casual shooting that is in that ballpark with a loose stock screw).

Overall I think its worth every penny of the 899 I paid for it.

I forgot about that one. I can't remember what I used to take that out.
There should also be a rollpin on each side near the screws. Both on the vertical & horizontal planes.

Woohoo! We finally got the Super/Hunter/Pioneer subforum approved! Just in time for my birthday even :) I've been moving old threads into it for a while now. I hope this helps out other owners of these beauties!

A armacon rail from legion replaces the rear sight and should work with traditional ak type rear sights. Kalinka sells the same armacon rail marked as kochnev for more $, they are the same though. There is a german company http://www.germanguns.de that sells two different versions of super/pioneer/hunter top mounted rails both made by molot. Top one is for year 2000 and up lower one is for pre year 2000 models according to the site.

I've been tempted to go with a mount like that, but I've gotta have iron sights :|
