I was trying to use the SGM 10 round magazines (4 total) and I was having issues.

The first round would not strip off the magazine properly and the bolt was only pushing it forward causing it to collide with the bottom of the chamber.
I was able to manually get the round to chamber by using my fingers to help guide it. After I did this the magazine would function flawlessly for the following rounds.

I was using two different kinds of ammo, and honestly I dont know the country of origin. One has an all brass color while the other one is all brass with a red seal on the neck of the cartridge. The round with the red seal was the round I could help guide into the chamber. The all brass rounds could not be finessed into the chamber at all.

Anyone have any ideas what this problem could be? The 10 round magazine was a big selling point in my purchase of this rifle and the ability to only use 5 round mags would greatly change my outlook on my VEPR.

Someone should move this to SGM's vendor sub section so they can address it. Sorry this happened to you.

I had loaded the mags wrong I guess. I sat down and slowly loaded the mags and they cycle better. I see if you dont pay close attention to the proper angle they can sit a bit low and this causes feed issues.

I also found I had overloaded one mag. You can squeeze 11 rounds in there, I didnt even realize I had done that. I am somewhat embarrassed to admit that error. I will test again at the range this weekend. I anticipate good results.

With the two i have.. i have found the springs are so strong they force the rounds up and it strips off plastic as the round is trying to cme out of the mag. Have also found that if i load 8 rounds into the ten round mag, it functions flawlessly. I think i might try leaving a mag loaded as to soften the spring a bit as both of mine are new mags.

The two 12 round SGM magazines I have are also problematic in nature. The factory Russian 5 round magazine works flawlessly, but the SGM ones occasionally misfeed or contribute to stovepipe jams in my V12. Is this a consistent thing, or was there a bad batch turned out by SGM at one point in time?

I just got 3 Factory 5 rounder's 2 SGM 10's and 2 SGM 12's. The 3 factory mags go in smooth like the one that came with the gun. All the SGM go in with the grace of god. I have to rock em, twist em, plead with them. Finding the sweet spot is to get them in easily, is next to impossible as of now. I haven't even used them yet. That was just checking fit. Not to impressed right now, but I will keep loading/unloading them and see if they get better.

My busy schedule has delayed me in working to resolve this issue, but I emailed SGM, and I was told that at one point there was a problem with one of their injection molds that was causing anomalies in some of the magazine bodies. Their magazines are covered by a five year warranty, and I am going to return the two I have for a replacement. If any of you have lost the cards that came with the magazines, the contact email for warranty replacement is customerservice@sgmtactical.com

If anyone has issues with a SGM manufactured product please call or go to the contact us page on our website and send them back to the address listed with a copy of the receipt and a brief description of what is wrong and we will replace them.

What if you don't have the receipt? I have (5) 12 rounders, the two that i opened didnt work properly. I had to file the follower for them to work right. I'm assuming the other 3 will have the same problem as they were all bought same time/place. Would I be able to send back all 5 for exchange?

Until they come out with a 2nd gen, there will ALWAYS be an issue I believe IMO. I have set both my SGM 10's next to my factory 5 & 10's, and the SGM's are both taller at the feed lips in front and back compared to the factory's. I need to take some photos and show exactly what I am saying here. But anything with more height on it than the factory's will only cause feed issues and mag loading issues (as we all know about the "slap" loading).
