The fifth generation Glock pistols seem to differ from the fourth generation guns in a few ways:

Flared magazine well.
The front of the slide is beveled.
Ambidextrous slide release.
A different finish said to be more durable than previous Glock finishes.
A new barrel which is claimed to be more accurate (Glock Marksman Barrel).
The deletion of finger grooves on the pistol grip.
A redesigned firing pin safety.
A different trigger mechanism.
Different factory sight options.
Deletion of the locking block pin (two pin system).

I don't know if I will go out getting one anytime soon, given that I am encumbered with student loans. Furthermore, my Gen 3 G17 and Gen 4 G19 work just fine. My Gen 4 G19 was one of the early variants that went through the recoil spring assembly recall (it was a recall, even if Glock didn't officially call it one), and I had to install a different ejector to get the gun to run reliably with weaker target ammunition. Time will tell if there are any initial defects with the fifth generation.

I have largely stuck with Glock for an overall defensive handgun (the simplicity and reliability are there, but I will confess that I shoot better with P220 series Sigs with Short Reset Triggers and CZ-75's and their knock-offs).
