I have heard not tried mounting an optic on the Vepr 12 yet. However, have heard talk of mounting over the ejection port causing FTE problems... Either due to the mount type or something to do with the internals / dust cover rivets. What type of optic and placement have you tried? What were the results - good and bad.

Thanks!!

Pictures always welcome to help illustrate your point

TRS-25 works great. Ive already about the issues when the optic is mounted on top of the ejection port, such as spent shells hitting the optic and causing FTE's as well as the plastic rail cracking.

Over 1K. Mostly cheap universal shells and about 100 rounds of slugs.

I am not sure about the optics over the port. The one vid I looked at was a eotech with a wide base.

do you think you would have the same problems with a small red dot like above ?

Had the eotech 512 mounted on mine and had problems. Had it in the furthest back position, but witness marks could easily be seen on the sight's body wher it interfered with the ejected shells. The shorter based eotechs are supposed to work well. /sct

The dot in friend's TRS-25 is so good it pisses me off. It actually looks slightly more defined that my T-1. I have been wanting to try one on one of my personal weapons.

Very useful stuff for mount optic instead of rear sight.

You just have to make sure you mount it rear of the ejection port, otherwise you'll have failures every single shot.

I bought a Firefield Impact XLT for dirt cheap at Optics Planet. I have a Burris FastFire already on my Mossberg 500 and wanted another open reflex sight for the VEPR. I figured the 12G recoil would quickly destroy such a cheap Chinese sight, so it was mainly just an experiment. But it's holding on admirably well after about 50 rounds (Federal slugs). We'll see how long it lasts. I currently have it mounted on a Chaos keymod rail. If/when it blows up I'll find something a little tougher -- maybe another Burris. :)
