Thanks for the updated spreadsheet!

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere...what's the significance of the black and red shaded cells?

Safe or useful.

Below are 2 charts. The second one can fit nicely on a 4x6 file card after formatting in your word processor. Laminate, and toss in glove box of vehicle, gun bag, etc.

It seems complicated and too many numbers to memorize. This chart is just a reference.

Once you know you gun's minimum dram equivalent preference, you basically only need to know four pairs of numbers (velocities at YOUR base DE for 7/8 oz, 1, 1-1\8, and 1-1\4 oz). As long as you are at or above those velocities at their corresponding mass, you should be pretty sure to cycle. Pretty simple once you get the hang of it. ;)

Thanks for cleaning it up, guys! 8-)

Yea, there's only about 25 of those numbers that are truly relevant, a five by five square.
Basically, two squares around that highlighted '1200' number represent the average ammo you'll find on store shelves.
Beyond that, you're getting into specialty ammo territory.
Once I got my head wrapped around that, it became MUCH more clear.

Ding ding ding! Winner.

The other squares matter when making your own.
