Would like to get some input on an idea a fellow and I are discussing on the drum idea. There have been 2 ideas proposed in regards of latching the drum on a frontal lug supporting the drum taking the load off the tower. The 2 proposed locations for the support lug are on the stock and on the reciever. The reciever would get a hole right in the space below the reunion where the handguard inserts. Here the drum would latch near the tower, whereas the handgaurd lug would use the frontal tab of the drum. That may also see modification but that's the location.

Thoughts? Open to trying both routes. I know that some will take issue with modifying either part. There may be other ways to get this lug method accomplished.

I'd rather modify the hand guard than the receiver.

Gotcha, anyone else have a view? I know the guard is a lot less permanent.

Also about the drum shape, lots of armies used pan drums. It has a very machine gun look, cause it fed several machine guns. This DTM drum was top loaded though.

Also most drums for 54r were pan type. Probly because of the rim? Other drums were just boxes for linked ammo, another solution.

One benefit to the pan drum is it doesn't stick into the ground, it will let you lay extremely prone, low to the ground.

Let the look grow on you.

As long as it's functional, it will sell. There are not a whole lot of options out there for the 54R. Interested to see it run.
