I wanted to take a moment to discuss the fitment of the Galil Micro handguard on the Galil ACE frame. As you can see from the picture, the handguard will fit, but when securely attached to the front sight base and receiver, it will have a slight upward cant. The handguard feels fantastic, despite the odd angle.
I never had a chance to buy up a Micro Galil (firearm or kit), so I decided to pick up a Galil ACE in 5,56×45 and build something similar. This is a model brought into the United States by IWI-US in pistol configuration. It takes the traditional Galil rock-n-lock magazines, and features a pistol brace from SB tactical. I removed the plastic lower, and replaced it with a KNS “Plastic-Delete Kit”, Ergo Shines grip, and Midwest Industries M-LOK handguard system.
I was fortunate enough to pick up an Israeli Military Industries (IMI) Galil SAR parts kit this week. I am hopeful that this will build-up nicely into a fantastic shooter someday. Next step: securing a barrel and semi-auto (US legal) receiver!
